Rila Skakavitsa Waterfall – Looking for the Drone

Skakavitsa Waterfall (Skakavishki Waterfall) is the highest waterfall in the Rila Mountains in Bulgaria. It is part of Rila National Park and is located on the Skakavitsa River. The waterfall is located at approximately 1876 m above sea level, with water falling from 70 m. It is very attractive for lovers of high and high waterfalls.

Skakavitsa waterfall is one of the main tourist attractions in the area, due to the centuries-old endemic Macedonian pine (Pinus peuce) forests around it.

I had prepared for a summer adventure, but I quickly realized that this is not the case. The temperature was about 5 degrees. I put on two thin tracksuits and headed for the mythical waterfall with my summer running shoes. I quickly reached the snow and the big boxing started.

The hiking was quite unpleasant at that time, but still some memory remains. I did not meet a single tourist. All of the time I had the feeling that rain would fall, but I was determined not to give up and go to the end. After all, I had traveled 6 hours to get here.

Everything around the waterfall was full of snow. So I decided to take the drone off a cliff between the trees. This turned out to be a big mistake. On its way home, the drone passed me, lost range and crashed. I was devastated. I entered another mode and the big search began. I had a 22% battery, which was about 25 minutes. That was the time I had to find the drone.

As I did not want to step into the snow, I began to walk very boldly. Several times I got into a ravine and almost fell into the river. The drone was 20 meters away from me, but I didn't know exactly where to go. The drone map had disappeared. I had approached 9 meters away from him, but I could not find it. Maybe it would stay there forever. The battery ran out, and there was no sign of the drone.
